MST’s statement in response to the government’s Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities report

The Mary Seacole Trust strongly disagrees with the conclusions of the Sewell report. There is clear and unmistakable evidence that many people from ethnic minority communities have worse experiences and face more barriers, across various aspects of public life, than their white counterparts. While some progress has been made over the years, to pretend that discrimination does not exist is harmful, as is denying the link between structural racism and wider inequalities. Britain will never be a ‘successful multicultural community’ until it is an equal one.
